      Hi, 8k miles / 13k km is quite good for an all round capable tyre. Of course other brands can last longer but I think that’s quite normal, but weight and riding style play a big factor. Thank you for sharing 👍 your experience. Best wishes Carl

    Hello, I watched your video 4/5 times. I changed my 4.32 Brembo brake pads. The front wheel is a little difficult to turn. Is this normal? Do I need a break-in? The pads I changed are Brembo (brm10dhh). Thank you very much again for the clear information. Greetings from the folk song. 1250 adv.😊

      Hi, the front wheel should turn smoothly and easily. Did you thoroughly clean the inside of the calliper and clean the pistons? Did you remove the callipers ? Please confirm. Did you use the lubricants I mentioned in the videos around the pistons and then gently and carefully press the pistons back into the calipers? If you did everything correctly and after a short 10 mile ride to gently bed in the new pads, the front wheel should rotate smoothly with just a little bit of drag / resistance being felt. Carl

      @@justthewayitisI don't have caliper piston oil, but I felt that the pistons moved easily. I will disassemble it and check again and try to find the piston grease. I hope I can provide a comfortable wheel rotation. Thank you very much for the information.

    are anakee adventure tires noisey?

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis 5 дней назад

      Hi RW, it really depends what you are comparing them with. For example they are much quieter than the OEM Bridgestone tyres fitted to the GS, but when compared to the Metzeler TN2 they are noisy. A lot depends on the roads you want to ride. If you need gravel light off road capability then the AA tyres are very good. But if you ride 95% road they Metzeler is a better and quieter tyre. Hope that helps Carl

Then attach a flexible cable or string and pull it back down. Then attach the B6 cable to the string and pull it up through to the access point. This way will save you a an hour of dismantling 🙏

    This may have been asked already but I can't seem to find it in the comments - How do I interpret the blank areas on your Ride Modes Chart / spreadsheet? Such as, what is ABS doing in column J? What is the throttle doing in column M? And what is DBC doing in columns Q and R? One might assume these settings take on the settings and/or adjustability from adjacent columns, but I would hate to presume incorrectly and experience unexpected results. Any help?

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis 11 дней назад

      Hi Paul, it’s fairly easy In column J there is no abs setting information because you only have 3 abs setting options ( not 4 ) which are highlighted to the right. The best way to use my chart is have look at it while sitting on the bike in the garage going through the physical screens. It will make much more sense this way. This way you will see that if there is a blank in the chart it’s because you have reduced options in the category. Again it’s better understood looking at the dash board while using the chart. Throttle response is blank in M column because you only have 3 options in that category ( not 4 ) If you have a specific question I’m happy to help. Best wishes Carl

    This has been very helpful, but what I don’t understand is if you are in Enduro pro with all the intervention turned off and you get the normal warnings when you first turn on the bike… After riding a bit the dtc (deactivated) lamp shuts off. To get this lamp on I have to go to the left handlebar dtc switch and turn it off every time to bring the lamp back on. Why wouldn’t the bike use the default rider settings? Do you have to turn off DTC every time you start the bike? 2023 gsa btw.

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis 11 дней назад

      Hi Fred, it’s a safety feature BMW wanted to keep active. Basically you have to tell the bike to turn it all off each time. I’m away from home so can’t try this now, but try using Enduro pro change it how you want. Then turn the bike off and cycle back to enduro pro ride mode… does it keep your settings?

    • @fredthorp6741
      @fredthorp6741 11 дней назад

      Thanks for the quick reply. Yes it keeps the settings in enduro pro. ex. engine-dynamic dtc-enduro pro abs-enduro pro I start the bike up and take off…the ABS continues to blink, but there is no DTC warning light unless I go to the left side and turn it (dtc) off which is confusing. If I’ve got to turn off dtc in enduro pro every time I start the bike, it kind of makes the dtc configuration process useless.

    Just fitted the V5plus BO with the Denali B6 brake light to my 1300GS. Thanks Carl for the video without which it would have been a much more difficult job. Unfortunately Weiser don’t provide comprehensive instructions. Fitting the brake light I unfastened the number plate mounting plate (it stays attached because of the number plate illumination lights wire), there is a convenient hole in the underside of the tail into which the brake light cable can be fed so it’s behind the number plate mount. From there I fed a piece of household wiring cable from under the seat, taped the brake light cable to it and gently pulled it to the underseat area. I hope this helps someone.

    Ian enjoyed your review, as usual. As per cost, I think you were very kind to BMW. I had a 22 1250 GSA, and put a deposit down in April on the new Traumatana, in Houston the sale-man did not give an out the door price. I was told to go online and build the bike like I wanted. And send it to him. I did, except I could not add the panniers or the Nav unit from BMW. Plus I could not include the items like freight, un crating, assemble, taxes, etc. At the first of March he said he had one located and was getting it. I again pushed for a total price. The price came in over $38,7?? . I canceled my order, sold mt 1250 GSA for $6,000 more than trade in allowance. Took my $22k cash in hand and purchased a 2039 KTM 1290 SAS at a last year model discount of $16,499. I’m very happy with the KTM, love the power, handling, weight and response. There’s a limit to this price madness for me. Keep up the good job my wife and I watch every episode. David n Dee

      Hi David and Dee, good morning and thank you 🙏. Yes the new bikes seem to be very expensive once you add all the options these bikes should really come with. My 2021 year model GS went up in retail price by 700€ just after I bought it, then another jump a few months later. I have a good friend who had a 1290 SA and he loves it too. Best wishes to you both. Carl 🙋🏻‍♂️

    Great video and love your channel! Very comprehensive video! I have a slight technical question about dynamic ride height you didn’t cover in this video. Maybe it’s in another one? But I’ll ask anyways. I just sold my r1250gs and am planning to upgrade to the 1300. I always left my preload in auto mode. I am aware on the 1300 the dynamic suspension will raise and lower on its own around 30kmh. But how does that affect the ride height preload? I am assuming you “can” lock the bike into low or high settings, but will the preload remain correct or “auto” in both upper and lower settings? What I’m trying to ask is will the bike still auto level in the low setting? Weather sub 30kmh or locked low. Sorry if I’m asking that in a confusing manner! Haha Again thanks for the great content! I am a retired aircraft mechanic by trade and I really enjoyed your 1250 series! Just now starting into your 1300 stuff. Keep up the great work!

      Hi Eric, thank you for your feedback on the work I do on the channel, and I think i understand your question,. AVHC has just 2 settings (Auto and High) in Auto mode it will automatically lower the suspension (front and rear) at low speeds and then return to the standard ( high setting ) once you move away. Their is no LOW setting that you can choose or select or have locked LOW in the main road focused ride modes (Eco, Rain, Road, Dynamic and Dynamic pro),. But, you can select Low or HIGH if you are using (Enduro or Enduro pro) ride modes. The test GS i had from BMW has been returned so I can't check for you, but the above is my understanding. If you need more clarification, perhaps a visit to your friendly BMW dealership is due..... smile. hope that helps, Carl

    • @eric7639
      @eric7639 15 дней назад

      @@justthewayitis Ok yes that does clarify a lot. Thank you! I didn’t realize that only the enduro modes locked high and low. I will assume “auto” is the same as the 1250 once it raises up. Ie auto leveling. Cheers and thanks for the quick reply Carl.

    How was the pikes peak seat compared to the regular touring seats?

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis 16 дней назад

      Hi the PP was better than the original seat in terms of comfort, but the Touratech seat has a dip in the middle for your coccyx bone (tail bone) which for me transforms the comfort to a very high level. Brilliant seat if you can find one. Hope that helps Carl 🙋🏻‍♂️

    • @justthewayitis
      @justthewayitis 17 дней назад

      Hi Udo, as we only need a trigger feed you could use one of the indicators and find the tail light feed wire. Or still use the din plug but just take a trigger from it at the back and then reconnect it back to the side panel which is probably the easiest thing to do so you can continue to use it for winter charging. All you need to find is a live wire that comes on with the ignition. Greetings from Hessen 👍 Carl
